Proverbs treats wisdom as a living person calling in the streets — and warns that the fear of the Lord is where she begins. James adds a simple offer: if any lacks wisdom, ask God, who gives generously.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
